LA Care has agreed o pay a fine of $1.3 million for their poor HIPAA practices.  There is no excuse for this large health plan to be so negligent in their operations.

California has ended its ill thought out ban of government travel to states who had what they consider anti- gay laws.  It never worked and even Governor Newsom traveled to a "bad state" to visit relatives.  This is another example of California's foot in mouth government.  The seven year experiment is no more.        Top

Hospitals

CMS has fined three mor hospitals for their lack of price transparency.  They are Saint Elizabeths Hospital in Washington, DC $677,440; Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Springs, Maryland $325,710 and Doctors Center Hospital Bayamon in Puerto Rico $102,200.

Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California, has been restricted from accepting new patients in it's pediatric ICU.  The state shut them down after an inspection that found was understaffed and that the hospital threatened the staff if they transported patients to other facilities.  Sounds like typical hospital administrators wanting to keep their turf to the detriment of staff and patients.        Top

Physicians

The Nevada Medical Board has suspended the license immediately of Dr. Samuel Chacon an OB/GYN.  Dr. Chacon lost his privileges at Renown Regional Medical Center in 2022.  This made him be not to deliver any of his pre-natal patients.  He continued to see the patients including a high risk one and when they were due had them go to the ED of the hospital.  He also continued to accept new pre-natal patients.

California has quit it's foot in mouth law disciplining physicians for "spreading false information". This law did not last a year.          Top
