The first attempt at what is meant by "meaningful use" has been propagated.  CMS has put out a first draft.  It included CPOE for everything, lab test results for inpatient and outpatients, generating lists of patients by specific condition to use for quality improvement, patient access to all records, providing clinical summaries for all patients of each encounter, being able to exchange information between providers, being able to submit information to public health agencies and complying with HIPAA.  This is by 2011.  I wish all of you the best of luck and by the way don't forget required barcoding is coming in 2013.  This is a good time for those that can to get out of the profession.         Top

The People's Republic of Massachusetts, the model for Obamacare, can not afford its own care.  They cut $115 million (12%) from the program.  The perfect storm was the recession and an increase in applicants.  Does this sound familiar to anyone regarding the public insurance aspect of Obamacare.  The Republic is slowing enrollment and therefore delaying care, a form of rationing.  They also eliminated dental care for many of the enrollees.  They are also considering dropping care for legal immigrants.  The reason for more people are the loss of jobs due to the recession.  The Republic will do like the feds will.  They are withholding payments to HMOs and when they do pay they are paying less than promised.        Top
